Miami Derm has become a cornerstone of skin health in Miami. What inspired you to establish this clinic?
Miami has always been my home and the heartbeat of my professional journey. Establishing Miami Derm was a deeply personal decision. I wanted to create a physical space that reflects my passion for blending advanced dermatological care with a personalized touch. It was about giving patients a haven where they could address skin concerns, enhance their natural beauty, and feel truly seen and cared for.
My goal was to create more than a clinic—it’s a hub for innovation and inclusivity. From medical dermatology to cosmetic enhancements, Miami Derm is designed to provide world-class care in an environment that feels warm and approachable. I want every patient who walks through our doors to feel empowered, confident, and beautiful.
Your upcoming podcast, Skin Deep, is highly anticipated. What motivated you to step into podcasting, and what can listeners expect?
Skin Deep was born from my desire to connect with people on a broader scale. Skin health is a deeply personal and often emotional journey for many individuals. Through this podcast, I want to explore those layers—sharing expertise, patient stories, and the latest in dermatology and wellness.
Listeners can expect a mix of science, storytelling, and actionable advice. Each episode will dive into topics ranging from cutting-edge treatments and cultural perspectives on skincare to debunking myths and tackling taboo subjects. The podcast will also feature guest experts, patient testimonials, and personal reflections from my own journey in dermatology. My hope is that Skin Deep becomes a trusted resource and a source of inspiration for listeners to prioritize their skin health and embrace their natural beauty.
As someone who holds licenses in all 50 states, how do you balance the demands of teledermatology with running a thriving brick-and-mortar clinic?
It’s certainly a delicate balance, but one that I’ve embraced wholeheartedly. My work in teledermatology has taught me how to optimize my time and streamline processes without compromising on the quality of care. Teledermatology and Miami Derm serve different but complementary purposes—both rooted in my commitment to making expert dermatological care accessible.
With teledermatology, I’m able to reach patients in remote areas who might otherwise lack access to specialized skin care. At Miami Derm, I can provide hands-on treatments and foster deeper connections with my patients. Technology and a dedicated team make it possible to manage both effectively, and the synergy between the two platforms fuels my drive to push boundaries in dermatology.
What sets Miami Derm apart from other clinics in the area?
Miami Derm is unique because it’s built on a foundation of personalized, patient-centered care. Every individual is treated as more than just a diagnosis or a procedure. From the moment a patient steps into the clinic, they’re welcomed into a space designed to prioritize their comfort and confidence.
We pride ourselves on offering cutting-edge treatments tailored to individual needs, whether it’s a medical condition like eczema or acne, or cosmetic services like injectables and laser therapies. Additionally, our multicultural approach allows us to address the unique skin health concerns of Miami’s diverse population. At the core of it all is a deep commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and excellence.
How does your background in teledermatology inform the care you provide at Miami Derm?
Teledermatology has been a transformative part of my career. It has taught me the importance of accessibility and adaptability. The insights I’ve gained from serving patients across the country have shaped my approach to in-person care at Miami Derm.
For example, I’ve become adept at identifying subtle skin concerns through virtual consultations, which has sharpened my diagnostic skills. Teledermatology has also reinforced the value of listening to patients and understanding their unique needs, a principle I carry into every interaction at Miami Derm. It’s about meeting patients where they are—both figuratively and literally—and ensuring they feel supported throughout their journey.
What does the name Skin Deep signify to you, and how does it align with your mission?
The name Skin Deep is a reflection of my belief that skin health goes beyond surface-level aesthetics. It’s about the profound connection between our skin and our overall well-being. Skin is the body’s largest organ and often a window into our health, emotions, and identity.
With Skin Deep, I want to explore those deeper layers—discussing the science behind skin health, the emotional impact of skin conditions, and the cultural narratives surrounding beauty and self-care. The podcast aligns with my mission to empower individuals to embrace their unique beauty and prioritize their skin health in a holistic way.
What drives you to keep innovating and expanding your reach in dermatology?
My driving force is the ability to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Skin conditions can deeply affect a person’s confidence, relationships, and overall quality of life. Knowing that I have the tools and expertise to help people overcome these challenges is incredibly fulfilling.
Innovation is a cornerstone of my work because the field of dermatology is constantly evolving. By staying at the forefront of research and technology, I can offer my patients the best possible care. Whether it’s exploring new treatments, launching Skin Deep, or expanding Miami Derm’s services, my focus is always on creating meaningful, lasting impact.
How do you see Miami Derm evolving in the next five years?
I envision Miami Derm becoming a leading dermatology center not just in Miami, but on a national scale. We’re constantly expanding our services, investing in state-of-the-art technology, and building a team of specialists who share my vision for excellence and inclusivity.
In the coming years, I’d like to introduce more community outreach initiatives, especially for underserved populations in Miami. I also see Miami Derm as a training ground for the next generation of dermatologists—mentoring young professionals and fostering a culture of innovation and compassion. Ultimately, my goal is for Miami Derm to be synonymous with transformative, patient-centered care.
What legacy do you hope to leave in the field of dermatology?
I hope to be remembered as someone who transformed the way people think about skin health—breaking down barriers, challenging norms, and making expert care accessible to all. Through Miami Derm, Indigenous Dermatology, and now Skin Deep, I aim to leave a legacy of inclusivity, innovation, and empowerment.
Dermatology is not just my profession; it’s my calling. If I can inspire others to prioritize their skin health, embrace their natural beauty, and approach life with confidence, then I will have fulfilled my purpose.
